Please forgive me, I did miss Woman Care Wednesday, but it was all for good reason. I wanted to thoroughly go through my hair journey to provide what I believe are some of the best hair products. So in this segment of women care, I wanted to touch on a topic that has been big for a while now and give my brief perspective on it. Natural Hair, this concept of natural hair seems to be taking very lightly by many people that don’t sport it. My belief of natural hair and also how Solange touches on it in one of her singles “don’t touch my hair”, is that it becomes our crown in a sense. It embodies who we are as individuals, our personality and for most, our power. So maintaining your hair and making sure it is well kept and strong is essential for natural haired women and men. Before I do list the products that I believe have the best long lasting effect on hair I wanted to mention that you must make sure what you are putting in your body is great as well. Your hair, the thickness, speed of growth and length relies on what you are consuming first. If you do not have a diet that can assist you and your hair growth, the products that I will lay out for you will have little to no effect on you. If you have any questions about foods that will help your growth please email me at email@example.com.
Here is my top 5 list of the best natural hair products.
1.) SheaMoisture – To me SheaMoisture is a god sent for natural hair and honestly for anyone that prefers natural products in general. Sheamoisture provides products that are mixed with a multitude of natural oils and butters that assist in your hair growth, volume and thickness. To me it is basically a one stop shop for many natural oils. I have used Shea from the moment I started growing my locs and it has done amazing things for the growth of my hair. Within 3 years I started with haircut length hair to now measuring at 13 inches on average for each loc. I also use SheaMoisture shampoos and conditioners not only in my locs but also for my beard. It is also easily accessible in many stores such as Target and Walgreens.
2.) Haitian Castor Oil ( Lwil Maskerti) – Now this product is not really accessible unless you have friends that are Haitian. If you do and you want great hair you NEED to ask them for this product. By far the rarest, rawest oil to come by only because it is made in Haiti. This product is simply liquid gold. Very similar to a product like Apple cider vinegar it does a lot of things such as cure migraines, cure age spots, acne, stretch marks, sunburns etc. In regards to Hair, the oil strengthens the hair for greater thickness and manufactures hair growth at such a rapid speed. I repeat if you have Haitian friends you need to ask them for this oil, if you don’t have Haitian friends, make some 🙂 .
3.) Jamaican Castor Oil- Jamaican Castor Oil, embodies some of the same principles as Haitian castor oil but it is not as potent. I only believe this is the case because it has been mass created for revenue and many companies don’t take the time to create a great castor oil but none the less it does wonders for your hair.
4.) Peppermint Oil – A very underrated product in my eyes. Peppermint Oil, to me, is basically a steam room for your scalp. It opens your pores while enhancing and promoting hair growth. It contains Pulegone, which strengthens the roots of your hair as well.
5.) Apple Cider Vinegar- I know Coconut oil didn’t make my list, but for specific reasons. I do believe coconut oil is great, but over time as maintenance. Each one of the other products I have listed have had more of an immediate effect for me. Apple Cider Vinegar has about 10 reasons on it’s on for why it benefits your hair. One big thing about Apple cider vinegar is that if you use it as a rinse, it will bring the pH levels in your hair back the normal after using shampoo which is very important, you don’t want to lose your hair. It removes build up and brings back your natural shine to your hair.
I hope you have been able to walk away with more resources to maintain your crown, this information is based solely on what I have done and what my loctician has taught me on my hair journey. Please go follow her page on Instagram @_hairmeout, the best loctician in the state.
